Chairperson, I thank the organisers for the invitation to come here and participate in this summit. In the short period since I assumed the high office of President of the Republic of Ghana, I will have had the good fortune to address audiences in the three most celebrated institutions of higher learning in this country.

Fellow Ghanaians, I have come into your homes this evening to talk about a matter that has generated a lot of heat in our country these past days.

Mr Speaker,

It is sixty-one years today since our nation Ghana won her independence, and it is fitting that we should gather to celebrate the anniversary of this special day.

I am very pleased to be here in Okuapeman School, and to join you in celebrating 60 years since the establishment of this great institution of learning. I am grateful to the authorities of Okuapeman School for the opportunity to deliver this brief address.
