Officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority have been urged to design and implement a modified taxation system for the large informal sector of Ghana’s economy in order to make it easier for them to fulfil their tax obligations to the State.

The Ministry of Finance and the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, working with the Economic Management Team, have initiated work on a mobile application for the filing of taxes, the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed.

“We will continue to create and maintain the conducive investment environment that not only guarantees the safety of investments, but good returns as well. We will continue to protect legitimate investments, and preserve the atmosphere of peace, stability and security that has been an important contributor to the increasing presence of German businesses in Ghana”.

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has launched a multi-agency initiative designed to increase domestic revenue mobilization, broaden the tax net and ensure compliance with tax obligations.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has described Ghana’s relations with Germany as being “of utmost importance”, as Ghana is determined to participate fully in the global market place not on the basis of the exports of raw materials, but on the basis of the exports of things the country makes.
