The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with global medicines company Novartis, has launched the first public-private partnership designed to ease the pain and improve the lives of people with sickle cell disease in Ghana.

The first public-private partnership between Ghana and global medicines company Novartis, designed to ease the pain and improve the lives of people with sickle cell disease in Ghana, has been launched in Accra by the Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday, 6th November, 2019, commissioned the 100-bed Ga-East District Hospital, which is part of the “Ghana Hospital Project” initiated by the Government of Ghana, in 2008, and executed by EUROGET De-Invest S.A of Egypt.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says the 3-year Business Regulatory Reform Programme introduced by his government will stimulate the growth and development of the private sector, and improve the business atmosphere in the country.

Government has initiated the process towards the establishment of a National Sanitation Authority as well as a National Sanitation Fund to address the country's sanitation and water challenges.
