There was a 21-gun salute and he inspected an honour guard mounted by a detachment from the Ghana Navy.

There was drumming and dancing by a cultural troupe as well as nationals of Benin.

The two leaders later held talks and emphasized the need for Africans to make efforts to unite and for Ghana and Benin to deepen their bilateral relations.   President Mills described Benin as a powerful member of the ECOWAS.

President Boni said this was his first visit to Ghana since President Mills became head of state and stressed the need for stronger partnership between the two nations.
