President Cuts Sod for Awoshie-Pokuase Road

President John Evans Atta Mills has performed a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 15km dual carriage road from Awoshie to Pokuase. 

The road which comes with service lanes, walkways and bicycle lanes is funded by the African Development Bank, Agence Francaise De Developpement and Government of Ghana.

The project which will improve accessibility to the northwestern corridor of Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA), is aimed at improving urban mobility and providing community upgrading infrastructure under the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’.

President Mills said, "this project is not favour to the people, they deserve it. This is what governance is all about, a government should be interested in raising the living standard of his people and removing impediments and obstacles that impede the progress of the people".

The President also appealed to the residence to coperate with the project managers and further assured them of governments commitment to resolving all compensations were necessary. 

The Project will include community infrastructure upgrading such as secondary roads, drainage facilities, markets, sanitation facilities, water supply and a transport terminal.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Roads and Highways, some government appointees and some residents of the area.
